I blinked… and February is over. But that means one step closer to longer days. (Next weekend, we set the clocks forward 🙌 )

Last week, my kids went to a neighbor’s house for what my friend calls a “good ol’ 90s playdate”: spontaneous, unsupervised, and kids being kids.

Call it a coincidence, but that night, I got an email that my Tin Can shipped. It’s a 90s landline with a glow-up. It connects to WiFi, and kids can call other Tin Cans for free.

I love that it fosters independence and gives kids a big confidence boost: dial a friend, ask them to hang out, and make it happen… all on your own (and without screens).

Does anyone else feel like they’re barely surviving? Between work, kids’ schedules, and starting to think about how I’m going to create all the holiday magic, the struggle is real.

Yesterday, I was hanging out with a friend while our kids played. Something went sideways, a little one had a meltdown, and she looked at me and said, “These are the moments.” She was being 100% facetious, and we had a good laugh.

But honestly? She’s right. These are the moments (even though they can be really, really hard).

Between the mental load and the chaos, I’m trying really hard to set boundaries, slow down, and soak all these moments in. It’s a constant work in progress… and that’s OK.

Fall officially starts in two weeks. While I don’t love the shorter days, I’m here for the cooler weather and my daily uniform of black leggings, oversized tees, and denim button-ups. I just realized, as I typed that, that I am 100% my mother.

A couple weeks ago, we took the kids to the Descendants/Zombies Worlds Collide Tour in my college town. The concert was amazing. I wish I could say the kids were equally impressed by the campus tour I dragged them on the next day.

We went apple picking today and somehow ended up with 30 lbs of apples. I guess I’m entering my apple-baking-and-canning-era. If you have any good recipes, please hit reply and share.

🫶 Hello from Our Chief Mom Officer

A couple weeks ago, I felt totally overwhelmed thinking about school starting: early mornings, homework, after-school activities. Besides the kids’ stuff, I have to fit in my job, housework, healthy eating, workouts, and the list goes on.

I asked myself, “What’s one thing I can realistically take off my plate?” Answer: meal planning and food shopping. So I signed up for a company that handles meal planning, grocery shopping, and delivery for me.

I got my first delivery last week and so far, I really like it. I’m holding off on sharing which one until I’m sure I fully stand behind it, but I’ll keep you posted and see if I can get a Hello Mamas discount.

August is National Breastfeeding Month. Whether you’re nursing, pumping, formula feeding, combo feeding (hi, that was me 🙋‍♀️), or showing up for your baby in the ways you can, you're doing great.

I carried a heavy weight with my oldest, feeling like a failure because I didn’t produce enough milk to exclusively breastfeed. I tried everything to boost my supply. If I could tell that version of myself one thing, it would be: give yourself grace.

This month is a powerful reminder of how much access, education, and support matter, and that how you're feeding (or how you fed) your baby doesn’t define your worth. You’re doing great.

I’m coming off two weeks of travel, including some much-needed family time and camping, or glamping, as my seven-year-old reminds me (apparently, a cabin with electricity, running water, and A/C doesn’t count as the real deal).

We spent the last week at my parents’ house, packed with tons of red, white, and blue treats and fun, endless poolside “mom, watch this!” moments, and too many “leave your sister alone, or no TV” reminders. It was chaotic, loud, and so worth it. I’m absolutely exhausted, but my cup is full.

At the same time, my heart has been heavy for the families in Texas impacted by the devastating flooding. As a motherhood community, the tragic news from Camp Mystic is especially hard.

💁‍♀️ Hello from Our Chief Mom Officer

It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy… kind of. Between coordinating camp drop-off and pick-up, managing work calls, and bribing my kids with popsicles to keep them from fighting, I honestly feel like a circus ringleader.

Here’s what’s on my mind this week.

My oldest said she wanted to try tennis, so we signed her up for camp at our rec center. We all went to the store to find the cheapest racket possible… and walked out with rackets for everyone. Do I know how to play? Absolutely not. But LFG.

(Not actually me.)

My kids love listening to their Yoto players. But always buying new cards when they get sick of their current ones isn’t in the budget. I just discovered the Libby app; we can borrow audiobooks from our local library... FOR FREE 🙌 

We’re heading to my parents’ house for July 4th. Since our post-op pup needs the whole trunk, we’re cramming two weeks of stuff into a cartop carrier. My husband vetoed the bus rental (#rude), so wish us luck.

🫶 Hello from Our Chief Mom Officer

Stop immediately. Now give yourself a big ol’ high five. We did it: we survived May-cember!

School’s out (or almost out), and summer’s in full swing. We’re shuffling kids to camps, planning activities, and balancing work schedules.

I recently asked a friend: was summer always this busy? Growing up in the 90s, my summers were lazy pool days, afternoons watching Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell, and nights playing flashlight tag.

Maybe it’s because now I’m the mom, organizing the chaos behind-the-scenes. Maybe times have changed. Maybe both. But one thing’s for sure. I’m connected 24/7: nonstop phone notifications and IG nudging me to “make memories.” It’s exhausting.

That’s why this summer, I’m trying to put the phone down more and be present. It’s a work in progress. I’m definitely not perfect (or alone). Several friends say they’re feeling the exact same way.

Here’s what the Hello Mamas team is thinking about lately.

1. Something I’m trying this week: swapping a text for a handwritten note on a friend’s porch. Just a little something to say, “I’m thinking of you.”

2. I flew through Just for the Summer—funny, emotional, and heartwarming. The kind of beach read that makes you wish the characters were real.

3. I’m feeling so drained from the endless, mindless scrolling. Here are 5 tips to refresh and shift from the virtual to the real world.

4. Fridge full of food but no clue what to cook? ChatGPT to the rescue. Type “I have X, Y, and Z, and I’m feeling like [Insert cuisine.] Give me a recipe.”

5. My kids are currently binge watching Full House. I’m absolutely here for it, and I strongly recommend you do the same.
